The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) Singapore has published the latest version of the guideline on testing requirements for health supplements (HS) and traditional medicines (TM) in July 2022.
There are two ways to ensure the finished products meet the required quality standards. Firstly, accredited laboratories can perform the routine testing required. In-house testing laboratories of manufacturers can also be used, provided that the test methods are validated or are according to a recognised pharmacopeia method and that the laboratory is audited.
The guideline also provides information on the specific limits for heavy metals, microbes, and potent medicinal substances.
